How to Solve Meowdoku Level 6
This 6x6 grid can be solved quickly by first identifying the colored regions that consist of only a single cell. Because every colored region must contain exactly one cat, these single-cell areas give us guaranteed starting placements.
Start by securing these obvious spots:
- Place a cat in row 1, column 3, as it is the only cell in the gold region.
- Place a cat in row 4, column 4, which is the only cell in the purple region.
- Place a cat in row 6, column 1, the only cell in the dark red region.
With these three cats placed, we can use the no-touching rule (which includes diagonals) and the one-cat-per-row/column rule to deduce the rest of the board.
Next, examine column 2. Where can a cat safely go?
- Row 1 is blocked by the cat already in that row.
- Row 2 is blocked diagonally by the cat in row 1, column 3.
- Row 4 is blocked by the cat in that row.
- Row 5 is blocked diagonally by the cat in row 6, column 1.
- Row 6 is blocked by the cat in that row. By process of elimination, place the cat in row 3, column 2.
Now look closely at row 5.
- The first two cells are blocked by the cat in row 6, column 1 (directly and diagonally).
- Columns 3, 4, and 5 are all blocked by the cat in row 4, column 4 due to column and diagonal restrictions. This leaves only one valid space. Place the cat in row 5, column 6.
Finally, we need to place our last cat in row 2.
- Column 1 is taken.
- Columns 2, 3, and 4 are blocked by the cat in row 1, column 3.
- Column 6 is blocked by the cat in row 5, column 6. The only remaining empty space is in column 5. Place the cat in row 2, column 5.
Every requirement is now met, completing the level!
